What do you do to relax when you have a lazy day at home?
This may sound stressful to some people, but I LOVE to cook when I have time, specially if it’s for others. So if there is anyone who wants to have a taste of some delicious Bangladeshi foods, remember I am here! Other than that, it’s mostly Netflix.
What are you most excited about for 2022? Goals?
By the end of this Spring, I want to say out loud that “I can swim!!” (yes I don’t know how to swim). I also want to create good memories, no matter how small they are, so that I can look back and appreciate how lucky I have been to have experienced those!
I am excited for summer, and all the greeneries and grilling that accompany it! I am also hoping to have more in person interactions this year.
What techniques do you/will you most often use in your project?
Being in a structural biology lab, I have to do many protein purifications, size exclusion chromatography, crystallography… blah blah blah…(I’ll lose people if I continue)
What's one silly mistake you've made in the lab?
The first time I wanted to make LB agar plates, I actually used the powder for LB broth. I waited the whole day for my plates to solidify, but sadly (and logically), they never set…
What are any current problems you are having with your research?
Like most peers in my area of research, trying to get my protein to crystallise!
What did you hope to get out of grad school in the beginning compared to now? Or (if you’ve just begun) what are you looking forward to?
I thought of grad school as this dark forbidden place that you chose to torture yourself. But 9 months into the program, I realized it isn’t so bad! I mean there is still some self-torture, but there’s also a self-satisfaction of achieving something. I am looking forward to learning new things, to enjoy my stay here.
