What do you do to relax when you have a lazy day at home?
On a day off, I like to enjoy one (or more) iced espressos and try and take in as much of the outdoors as I can. I also like to watch Netflix and go to the gym in my spare time. I am currently watching Firefly Lane and re-watching How I Met Your Mother.
What are you most excited about for 2021? Goals?
I am very excited to advance and build my knowledge in microbiology both in and out of lab and in addition, I look forward to the possibility of spending more time with friends and family.
What techniques do you/will you most often use in your project?
Currently, I am doing lots of PCR and also gel extractions. More techniques to come!
What's one silly mistake you've made in the lab? So far, I’ve made silly mistakes by reading the pipettes wrong (even after watching a refresher video on YouTube!).
What are any current problems you are having with your research?
At this time, there are no major problems since I’ve only been working in the lab since mid January.
What did you hope to get out of grad school in the beginning compared to now? I cannot fully answer this question as I have just started the program, however, throughout my graduate degree, I hope to become a better communicator, writer, and scientist. I am excited to broaden my knowledge in microbiology and apply it to my research.
